AFT Resolution

WHEREAS, American Federation of Teachers active and retired members have spent their professional lives building a strong union, fighting for respect for educators, and for a strong and well-funded public education system from pre-K to higher education; and

WHEREAS, teachers in many states went out on strike in the 2017-18 school year, not only for decent wages, but for increased funding for their schools and their students; and

WHEREAS, the 2018-19 school year has seen similar actions already:

Resolved, that the American Federation of Teachers honors the Red for Ed movement and similar solidarity actions across our country and urges all of its affiliates to continue to show support for the teaching profession, for educators and school-related personnel, for students, and for proper funding for our public schools.

Please note that a newer resolution, or portion of a resolution, may have superseded an earlier resolution on the same subject. As a result, with the exception of resolutions adopted at our most recent AFT convention, resolutions do not necessarily reflect current AFT policies.
